That said, here are 6 important things you should know about air travel which you probably don't:

1. You've signed a contract with the airline once you've purchased a ticket. Translation - depending on what the airline's terms and conditions are, you're pretty much bound by them.
2. They don't have to take you anywhere. As hard as a pill that may be to swallow, most airlines have terms in the aforementioned contract (plane ticket) which read along the lines of “times shown in timetables or elsewhere are not guaranteed and form no part of this contract. Schedules are subject to change without notice." The airline may also "alter or omit the stopping places shown on the ticket in case of necessity."
3. Flights with multiple stops automatically charge the highest possible fare so you may want to look out for those with fewer or no stops at all.
