Mimiko’s Defection Will Not Deter Us From Winning Elections- Ondo LP

Despite the defection of Governor Olusegun Mimiko to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), members of the Labour Party (LP) in Ondo state says they were still confident that the February 2015 coming elections which will produce Honorables’ at the State House and National Assembly would be a boast for them.

Speaking through their Acting Chairman, Mr. Kolawole Johnson, at a Press conference held in Akure, the state capital, said the Labour Party still maintain its relevance despite the exit of the governor to the formally opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.

Mr. Kolawole disclosed that the party was not dead as been spread by its enemy stressing that its indolence in the state since Mimiko’s defection was to undergo restructuring for better performance in the elections.

“The reason for the short dull in activities in recent past in the state is to allow the party go through the necessary process of re-engineering and restructuring after the exit of the only governor on the platform”.

He also maintained that the Labour Party is unbeatable as the people still believes in its ideology of hard work been a virtue.

“This is the party of the masses built on sound democratic norms and best acceptable global practices.

The Acting Chairman further reiterated the commitment of the party at attracting supporters into its fold with a focus to win coming elections and regain its stand for the common good of democracy.

While assuring of overwhelming victory in the coming polls, Mr. Kolawole hinted that the party would feature candidates in all the elective positions in the 2015 elections, as he said the party’s form is already on sale.

“Our forms are available in the state and every necessary arrangement has been put in place to guarantee a peaceful, objective, focused and crisis-free exercise”.

He, however, urged politicians to shun politics of do or die affairs with a call on the security agencies to display high sense of professionalism instead of joining politicians to commit electoral fraud as election approaches.
