The Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Adewale Omirin has been impeached.
Omirin was impeached today, November 17, by seven members of the house who were reportedly supported by armed policemen.
The 7 legislators who carried out the act belong to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and have reportedly appointed their colleague, Dele Olugbemi, as the acting Speaker.
Omirin and Governor Ayo Fayose,
also of the PDP, have been at loggerheads since the latter’s swearing
in with the governor allegedly shutting the speaker’s petrol station and
freezing the accounts of the House of Assembly.
Story developing.
