House of Reps will solve NFF crisis, says Gaiya

The chairman house committee on sports has asserted that the lower house would ensure that the country does not suffer any Fifa in the wake of the renewed NFF crisis

The Chairman House Committee on Sports, Hon. Godfrey Gaiya has said that the House of Representatives will soon sit to deliberate on the renewed resentment in the Nigeria Football Federation and that everything possible will be done to avert another international football ban.
On Thursday, Justice Ambrose Allagoa of the Federal High Court, Jos had ruled against the NFF elections in Warri of September 30 which ushered in Amaju Pinnick as President as well as the congress preceding it because they were against the court order.
World football governing body Fifa have warned that should anything hinder the newly elected NFF executive committee led by Pinnick from operating, they will move for an automatic ban for the country till the next Fifa congress in May.
In a chat with Goal, Gaiya revealed that he was yet to be briefed on the latest court ruling but would ensure that his committee in the lower house does the necessary things to ensure that football is not shut by Fifa.
"I am just hearing it too just like you but I don’t want to hastily make any comment now. House Committee will meet to discuss on it soonest and the interest of the country’s football will soar high in our deliberation and the need to work towards averting any backlash from Fifa,” Gaiya told Goal.
"We thought everything about this had been sorted and that there won’t be any crisis again but we are assuring Nigerians that we are going to come to the root of the matter and the country’s football interest will be adequately protected,” he concluded
